Hey tata, I’m visiting my family for the summer here in Kuwait(I go to art school in New York city), and I’m bored to death. Judging from your taste in photographers (Terry Richardson, David la Chapelle), I assume we have similar tastes. I’m just wondering what the design/art scene in Kuwait is like, if there is one. And, I don’t know if you have any clue about this, but what’s going on with all these parties with free alcahol going on in Kuwait, I hear there’s one in Bnaider, and Hangout does this guestlist thing at night, how can I get on the list? Thanks, and great blog by the way, I laughed outloud at the post about the m7ajjiba fucking infront of Johnny Corino’s.

…also, I don’t know if you noticed the beautifull promotional video that David La Chapelle and the New York designers Heatherette did for M.A.C. (it’s on David’s website). I know the cracked-out tranny in the video (Amanda Lepore), I posed with her for a polaroid picture with her “tits” hanging out of her dress, she looks a lot crazier in life. Amanda is David La Chapelle’s 50,000 year old Barbie look-alike transexual muse, his “East Coast bitch” as he calls her (Pamela Anderson being the West Coast bitch). Oh and she was also kidnapped by a crazy man from New Jersey before she became a Manhattan night life superstar.
I don’t know if you care about any of this, but I just thought it was interesting.
Ciao……..luca

art school in New York city, WOW.
Well, We don’t really have a “scene” when it comes to arts, we have some good artists here and there mostly unknown but all in all it’s not organized. Most of the exhibitions we have here are displaying works by non-kuwaiti artists (which is totally fine with me, actually we need to do that) but we need to see more works by kuwaiti artisits.
Design?, It’s Dead in here. (Just look at the Ads)
The Parties and alchohol is here all the time but WE ARE NOT INVITED.
If you know how to get your name on “THE LIST”, well, Hook me up.
Drop me an email when you are here in kuwait, up for a hangout?
Maybe we can organize our own Arty Farty Party, Oh, That sounds like a good name for an arty oriented party. :p

Its the designers that make the design scene and not the country. There is no problem with the design scene in Kuwait since there isn’t any. The problem is with the designers and the lack of there personal projects.
Nibaq isn’t a designer for example yet he had an art project involving Obey Giant. http://usurp.textamerica.com/?r=479723
instead of designers in kuwait setting an example for him, he is setting it for the designers.

With all due respect to nipaq, Stenciling is nothing but a reproduction of the artist’s work (Shepard Fairy in this case). If nipaq was the one who designed and art-directed the whole campaign of “Obey Giant” that would be totally awesome but as sad as it may sound, he didn’t.
Personal Projects are all good and every designer should have some kind of a personal project to stay sane and to avoid being stuck in the loop of Corporate Design but what is a designer without any good commercial design.
I guess we do have a “Scene” but it just sucks.
