Update

Wednesday, September 29th, 2004

I’m not going to say “oh, I’m sorry that I didn’t post anything in awhile…” Cuz it’s not an obligation and I never promised any one to keep this blog updated on daily basis however I will try to update you on what’s going on tatabotataville:
(In no particular order)

  • I Just finished a big project and I hope things will go well in the printing press, I’m really scared that they might fuck things up.

  • Got ALL of my proposed designs for the Identity of a new pan-Asian fast food chain REJECTED. They are not really “MY” options I just did the art direction part but the concepts were done by another Architect (friend of mine). I think we have the chance for a second round but I’m not sure it’s really worth it cuz we will be competing with this “Architect From Chicago” and as far as I know the owner got “3oqdat el frinjah” or whatever they call it and he will say yes to any thing designed by that “Architect From Chicago”.

BTW What’s with Architects doing graphic design? I know they studied the same stuff as graphic designers study and every thing, but can’t you just stick to designing buildings? Why do you want to take over our business? Amunki, don’t take it really personal, okay. :p

  • Yesterday I invited friends to this fancy show-off restaurant that we wouldn’t go to normally. The reason? The menu was designed by yours truly. The waiter said that the people really liked the menu and it’s much nicer than the previous one.
  • I found out that I have a thing for “7adaag” I really enjoyed it and I’m going to do it again tomorrow (hopefully).
  • So I just got the chance to see Amelie. What an amazing movie. What I loved the most about it was the cinematography, It was done in a very professional way. The Colors of the movie as a whole, the slow pans, the fast spins and simple yet effective Visual FX.

I also saw Connie And Carla, I will just give it three stars and a half out of five. One movie to avoid: Garfield.

  • I Finally used Bluetooth to connect my PC to my Mac. I can share files now but I have to figure out how to share the net connection.
  • Did you notice the shades? Sure thing you did.
    So what do you think?

Damn, this post took forever … I have a feeling that I can add more news and updates but I just can’t remember.

Personal?

Thursday, September 23rd, 2004

So I was thinking about my blog. Is it personal enough? Checking my archives I don’t see personal posts or not as personal as some bloggers write. I don’t feel like I’m writing enough about my self which makes me kinda depressed. Makes me feel like a very “katoom” person that I’m not, yeah, I can easily “afales” with my secrets.

I mean most of my blogs are links to something or some ad-crit posts. SO … I decided I should do something that Purgatory72 did a while ago, A Green Post, yes but I’m not going to change my template (maybe later). The Idea is to let you suggest a subject for me to write about. I’m not saying it should be personal thing but I won’t mind it, Just to add more “personality” to my blog.

Yes Purg, Once again You are very Inspirational. :p

Auto - Twice Twice Case

AUTO is a French electro band. I found their track with other tracks on Audict.

” Audikt is a collaborative, issue based project between designers, artists and musicians, showcasing creative and musical talent beyond the mainstream. “

They Just released their second Issue.

Wrong Number

Tuesday, September 21st, 2004

Almost every day I get one of those calls, “Hello, Mohammed?” In different languages and Accents. I don’t know who’s this Mohammed and I don’t even care to know. It seems like the fucker is some kind of a “Muqawel”. Also it seems like he printed a business card with my number on it (by mistake). Maybe his number is just very close to mine.

I don’t know I’m just assuming this because I got to have an explanation for this drama.

Samira Makhmalbaf

Tuesday, September 14th, 2004

My Friends were telling me that I have a weird taste when it comes to women, I don’t care.
I still think the Irani Director samira makhmalbaf is a sex bomb.

I haven’t seen her films but I’m waiting for Nibaq’s Film Club.

You Sexy Thing - Hot Chocolate

From the sound track of “The Full Monty” which I got for 1 KD from al-nazaer record store. They have this pile of old CD’s waiting to be discovered and they are all for 1 KD. Some are broken (the cover) but most of them are in good shape. I was lucky to be there when they started this thing a few months ago.

I bought all the good ones, so good luck finding any. ;)

I would make a post of the CD’s I bought If you guys are interested.

I was trying to add something to my almighty First T-Shirt and I totally messed things up. Also it got small cut earlier this week.

By the way, what’s with the winners?
You don’t want to get your t-shirts printed?

Unlikely Inspirational

Monday, September 6th, 2004

It’s amazing how boring family gatherings can turn into the most inspirational source of ideas. It’s when your brain try to eliminate all the bullshit you hear to leave you with the finest thoughts and the most innovative and creative ideas.

Having a brain-block? Bore yourself to death.

I just got the hottest idea for a short film, maybe even a feature.

And the Winner is …

Saturday, September 4th, 2004

Wait a minute. I tried really hard to pick a winner but it was impossible, As I said before some of them are just too good to lose.

So, Being generous and all …

Hard Time

Saturday, September 4th, 2004

I’m having a hard time picking the winner of the T-shirt Competition. Damn, some are just too good to lose.

Lemme Think.

New Font

Thursday, September 2nd, 2004

It took me almost 30 minutes to do. It’s not finished at all, there’s the lower-case letters, numbers and signs as well as a lot of kerning (the space between letters).

But what do you think anyway?

WULFFMORGENTHALER

Thursday, September 2nd, 2004

WULFFMORGENTHALER is a pair of an amazing nutcases; Comedian Mikael Wulff and Film Director Anders Morgenthaler (hence the name wulffmorgenthaler). They do the daily comic strip of K10K (Design Blog).

Sometimes you just have to think a little bit harder to get it and some times it’s straight in your face. I just love the way they mix things up and come up with stuff that makes you think “How the hell did they think of this?”.

I hope you will enjoy their sick sense of humor as much as I do.

Apple did it again.

Loop

Wednesday, September 1st, 2004

Here’s a Loop that I’m playing with right now, I might develop it to a whole track.

EhLoo.mp3
(Right Click, Save Target As)

What do you think?

I sampled the following:

1. Bjork - Joga (The strings in the beginning of her track).
2. The Waifs - London Still (The Bass, it was an acoustic guitar I just turned the pitch down).
3. Super Mario (The noisy hihats, from the soundtrack of the old Nintendo game).

I played the following:

1. The Oud (Lute), yeah that was me. I tweaked the sound a lil bit.
2. The Tabla.
3. The drumloop in the background was composed by me too.

  • About the t-shirts, Would you get them ...
