A very Long Engagement

Oh oh oh, I know someone who’s gonna luuuurve this.
Jean-Pierre Jeunet (the director of “Amelieâ€) Just released a new film starring amelie herself (Audrey Tautou).
Watch the Trailer (QuickTime)
They say it’s a bit like “Cold Mountainâ€. So good for me that I haven’t seen “cold Mountainâ€. But hey you can’t say a lot about a film just by watching the trailer.
So Shut up Biyaaaaatch.

Tata,
I caught a screener of Un Long Dimanche de Fiancailles a while back, and unfortunately, it wasn’t anything to write home about. It’s a pretty decent love story, but overall, the film’s kind of weak.
Might I suggest two other Jeunet works that you may enjoy? Delicatessen, which is twisted and surreal, and the brilliant City of Lost Children.
Enjoy!

Seen them and loved them?
You’re my new best friend!
I could talk foreign films all day. Let’s exchange notes, shall we?

Thanks for the head’s up.
I gotta watch this one.
Glad you liked the others. Let me know what you think of “Monsieur Ibrahim” (there is this one scene–I swear). I can’t wait til you see it so I can talk to you about it.
“City” inspired me the most. I felt like a changed person after seeing that film. Excellent cinematography…
I want to be a film maker damn it. (Gotta borrow that book from Mama Fusla!)

SheWrites, I’m not “THE†Expert in foreign movies or anything but I really enjoy them as they offer a break from the mainstream American movies. Hell I even enjoyed the French mainstream movie “Taxi†(only saw 2).
However, I welcome your friendship and I will start the note exchanging session by asking you “what are your favorite scenes in delicatessen?â€
Amunki, Thanks again … I will try to watch “Monsieur Ibrahim” tomorrow.
“City …†is really cool, I was watching it with my little sister. (winky winky)
That book is nothing more than the Robert Rodriguez’ Diaries while making “el mariachi†while it’s good to get an insightful look at the filmmaking world and the sharks (hawameer) Hollywood it doesn’t serve as a good “how to be a filmmaker in 10 days†kind of book.
Try the Web.

Wee3, don’t watch “Cold Mountain”. It’s not worth to waste your time watching that. But go for “Amelie” or the new movie
