One more competition

The one and the only Q of Kuwaitism and I are working on something really cool. It’s has something to do with advertising in this region.

We need a name.

Funny, meaningful, easy to understand for non-arabic speakers and professional.

The prize is to be decided by Q.

You need to give more details, if we do not know the product, or the service, you cannot call a chicken store, the big sheep for example, so give us details.

hmm took you two minutes to change your mind about calling me stupid?

your comment still did not clarify matters, what kind of advertising and what region?

rule 1 of advertising is to know your product, and as you do not give us details, we cannot advertise it.

but here is a name, stupid blog on advertising :P

i think if there will be a blog about advertising then it should be run by people who are qualified to run it and give their opinions.

you know, people who have done some decent work and have a decent portfolio. that way atleast the site and the writers opinion would be credible.

the thing is its easy to spot bad advertising in kuwait, anyone can do that and many people do that. Whats difficult is saying why an advertisement doesnt work and what could have been done to improve it. for example with the 1×4=5 ad, saying the designers should have removed the models acne doesnt solve the ads problem, neither if the guy in the picture had held the chalk right.

anyway, everyone is free to state their opinion but i am just saying that you can’t say an ad is crap if you as a designer can’t do any better yourself. could you show us some of your work?

btw, i didn’t mean anything negative with my comment just now. i actually think a blog about advertising would be very interesting. this is why the writers who participate in that blog should be credible. the only way for the writers to gain credibility is by their own work. am i making sense?

Btw I would like to say a comment to Mark , u don’t have to be the creator or a person who works in the same field in order for you to discuss something, cause that didn’t stop us from commenting on politics that we haven’t worked in and how cars look like since we didn’t design them ourselves, the problem with advertisement is that its done by you for the masses and it’s the masses right to decide whether what u did is beautiful or ugly and u cant deprive them from that right. U should at least be thankful its tata and Q who will do that at least one is a designer whose into graphics and the other has done his homework on it, so im glad at least some1 is going to post something and gives us the ability to c stuff differently and aware us .what u should be scared of is now with this ull have more understanding ppl who will make u work harder for your money in bringing interesting more beautiful designs, ppl like tata and Q are making u more creative so by the next 5 years ull really be excellent ;*)
U c the beauty of art is relative and subjective to the person viewing it and working in such a field should make you more aware of that then any1, u don’t have to be an artist to criticize art on the contrary you have to be some1 who is not in the field in order for you to say something beyond theory and just say the truth.
After all you’re work might be on the blog and u might here comments that will be enlightening and u should be acceptable of it.
You don’t really have to c tata`s work in order for you to know if he is a good judge or not since the guy isn’t planning to take a degree by comments he and Q are just trying to decide whether the ad is bringing the idea behind the product to the public or not .
Its just showing passion about something,
don’t tell me you never said your opinion on something that is not related to ads.

TarTar: I can’t help but say this but Mark does have a point. I think he was talking about the concept of the ad as opposed to the beauty of it. Art and advertisements require creativity, but art is more personal and expressive where ads are commercial and targeted. Sure, there could be beauty in the ad, but I think the concept of the ad is what drives its success or failure.

    dear Erzulie,
ads r subjective to the target, we and tata and Q are the target, hence they and we have the right to judge it .
plus we have no clue what the blog is all about so lets leave the effort to when its created.
    keeep the energy…:)

First time I comment, but I like coming up with names.

    1-”Blazon-Q”

Blazon means “coat of arms” or an ostentatious display. It is also a verb used “to proclaim widely” or to “adorn or embellish a coat of arms”. And the Q well…there has to be a Q :P.

    2-”eQ’spoz”

Corny…but at least it has a Q in it.

    3-”Quando”

“When?” in portugues. It has a Q and it might represent a certain philosophy of looking into the future.

    My 2 cents
