The Dreamers Club
I have this idea … I pitched it for rampurple but apparently she didn’t buy it. :p
Well, you’re a creative guy … you want to do something with your life, you want to release an album, you want to make a documentary, you want to shoot the next big thing. Whatever it is you want to do, you wil eventually need tools, right? and if you know your stuff and the quality level of your work really matters to you, you will want to use great tools, which … yes … they cost money, sometimes serious money.
Now I’m not saying you’re cheap for not paying that much money to pursue your dreams but let’s be realisitc, nobody wants to pay big bucks for something they would use only twice a year or worse once and then shelf it to collect dust and becomes an antique.
My idea is simply to get a bunch of those dreamers and make a list of the things they would like to have access to, stuff they might need. They would all pitch in and get the tools they all want.
There will be some kind of regulation on who gets what and for how long but all of that could be figured out later.
I want these with the necessary accessories and the little things that make them more useful:
Nikon D2X
Sony HDR-FX1
Tescam HD-P2

if my bank balance allowed for it…. *maybe* i would… but only for things I would use…. but what if we all fall out, who would get the stuff? what if someone died?

I remember discussing this with you and others about this as a plus965 project the ability to provide resources for people’s ideas within the group.
Yet after consideration and bouncing the idea off other people and thinking how it would work out the personal attitude of people was like of Ananyah’s earlier “im too greedy”.
There is this problem in our community to hide ideas for fear of it being stolen or even ridiculed by it. Everyone has a get rich scheme and automatically think that they are the only ones with this idea and shouldn’t share it with anyone. When the truth is keeping it to yourself will only make sure it will fail. Cause they think about their own self interests and not how they can benefit others and by asking for help their idea could succeed.
I am faced with this mentality on a regular basis with Kuwait Blogs with people telling me “why dont you put ads or make some money off of it”. My reply is that “I am not in it for the money. I actually want to do something for a community”. This concept of altruistic behavior is a completely foreign idea to them.
I hope this succeeds and willing to provide any resources for your content that are at my disposable.

“im to greedy” was in the context that i would want to hog everything and not let anyone use it when they wished :p
maybe you should have a rota or something
I still really like the idea…. but you’d have to get likeminded ppl who use likeminded tools and get em to cough up the moola

Here’s an idea.
What’s the connection between altrustic behavior and financial profit, making money out of kuwaitblogs doesn’t make it any less useful/communo-centric…it might make it difficult for you to contend that you are doing it for the community, but then again who gives a fuck what people make think of your motives, right?

i’m working on a script for an animated movie. i got no idea wutsoever about how i’m gona bring it to life. the softwares … the rest of the movie-making process n tools that i know zilch about. but I AM working on it

now i got an idea for you. let say 5 of us chipped in getting the list above, if others who didn’t chip in n wanted to use the same stuff that we already have, we can simply rent it on them. ya3ny eventually we’re gona make money out of it too. now, incase u have’nt noticed i’ve been using the term “we”. in other words …
