Tata Speaks at Kuwait University
I was asked to speak at Art’s & Design Department at Kuwait University’s College For Women in Al- Adeleyia a while ago and I agreed to do so.
Today was the day, I kept procrastinating on what I should talk about that I only managed to write anything in the few hours before the lecture, hell, I even managed to do a quick slideshow.
I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the material overall but I still think it will be useful to them. I even asked the girl who’s coordinating the whole thing about the worst case scenario and what could happen if I just couldn’t make it. She freaked out and she told me that it might affect their grade and they’re honor students.
It became a mission to me to do this presentation no matter what, I can’t hurt the girl’s grade … I really can’t live with that especially after I gave them my word.
So I step in the classroom say hi and start plugging my iPod to the main computer to get the presentation. I was quite nervous the first ten minutes but I snapped out of it and I managed to impress myself. I really felt I was in control and I was giving the girls something they can really use in their professional life.
I talked about the job market and their real-life options after they graduate. I offered tips on the process of job hunting and landing yourself a job in an advertising agency.
Funny thing is, Just minutes after I arrived at the office I found this comment on my blog. I just couldn’t help but read it out loud for my colleagues and crack out laughing. I wonder what the other girls thought of the lecture.

Wow,
I read what that person said on your last post! Thats pretty rude and pathetic! This is what i am begining to hate about people lately. They are so closed minded and are not up for different views, opinons and ideas.
Yet, if they did something as great as you do, they would expect everyone to agree and accept it.
It really is dissapointing and annoying how people act these days. How rude to just come along and post something up like that. Id like them to offer to go to an All guys college and make a presentation there! I doubt they would never do it. Some dumb excuse would pop up.
Oh well, sorry to hear what happened, screw people like that, Im sure you did a gr8 job Tata!

I got this comment on my email:
You didn’t like the guy’s presentation.
Okay.
You think he is boring, nervous, rude and unoriginal. (you forgot short).
I get that.
You don’t like his t-shirts.
I get that too.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I personally think that he needs to part his hair on the left, stop wearing orange and lay-off the pies for a while.
Who am I to judge?
But, ‘go kill youself’?
Is this a commandment or a catchy new alias?
I’m a bit lost!
Maybe, YOU should have a live presentation. ‘An Audience with Go Kill Yourself’.
‘A question and answer session’.
Maybe, you are a terrific public speaker? A real ’stand-up’ comedian or the next Speaker of the House.
You’re comedic timing and intelligent insite, would have us on the edge of our seats!
Who knows?
You could list all of YOUR acheivements to date and we could all sit back and pass judgement on your professional abilities and ’social worth’.
You could share with us how you have raised public commentary to another level.
How you have brought peace and prosperity to the modern world.
Maybe even, ‘teach the world how to sing, in pefect harmony’!
Who the heck knows!!
I await your next insightful comment eagerly.
Maybe you could start with;
‘If you don’t like it here in Kuwait, then go home’!!!
Best Regards,
A friendly Infidel.

I know personally that person, who said that your presentation was terrible, etc, etc.
They just wanted me to pass on the following anouncements.
On Monday, we’re having a public stoning in the morning,(located just outside the home of anyone foreign or just plain ‘weird-looking’!!)
Followed by a touch of ‘book burning’ in the evening. Bring fire-lighters and hot chocolate.
Tuesday, is ‘Close your mind to world Day’.
And Wednesday, is ‘Revoke the right for women to drive, vote and generally think afternoon’
Tea, coffee and scones will be served after final speech. Jack-boots and bull-whips (optional)
Thank You.

Free speech, expression, thoughts, etc..should only be exercised with mutual respect of the ‘other side’s opinions & feelings. The moment they are broken or crossed over, they become targets of criticism, attacks and insults. People need to be responsible for their actions, whether they’re active or reactive.

I find it interesting to give such an interesting topic, hope the girls there enjoyed the show. And welcome to KU

Too many people these days, appoint themselves as the ‘peoples moral/spiritual protector’ or claim to have God, ‘on speed dial’!
Everyone has their own agenda and if they spent half as much time looking at themselves and their own actions, as they do ‘finger-wagging’ at everyone else, the world would be a much better place.

“That’s rude, disgusting, and I’d like to see shloon betjabil rabbik yoom elqiyama after publicizing such concepts.â€
That’s her personal opinion, expressed freely - you didnt have to fire her off like that and land a defensive yo-mama attack on her, if you’re the open-minded person you claim to be.
You arent someone who had spent a lot of time and endulged with many nationalities/religions to claim to be open-minded, you’re just a bi-product of American wannabes.
“It will be funny seeing you work in advertising, ..†.. subhan Allah. I’ve been in advertising for 5 years, and my website receives 10,000 visitors a day. I have never used your kind of language nor did anything that goes against religion. Your claim that being offensive and using vulgar language is essential to work in advertising, just proves how limited you are. You want the girl to go beyond her standards just to be accepted in this field?
Excuse my harshness - I just don’t like it when people talk negatively about religion and associate failure with it. Do some self-evaluation for yourself and don’t act so defensive, replying back, to avoid looking bad.
