KDD Opens Its First Shop (Showroom?)

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

The other day, I was on my way to pick a friend up and I saw this. Didn’t get a chance to go in but I guess they sell what KDD makes, milk, ice-cream and all that.

Seems like KDD was really hurt by the Co-Ops decision to pull their products after they raised their prices. Opening their own shops would be the logical step but I just can’t see it happening, unless they have their own shops in each area in Kuwait.

Sargam RIP

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

I just came to know that one of my favorite restaurants, Sargam, is closing down. It seems like they are demolishing the whole building.

It’s sad, really sad.

Big Chicks

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

The chick on the Fatafeet TV channel ad makes go like “Uhhhh!” everytime I pass by those billboards.
Tasty goodies and devilish look that says “I might be a mom but I would rock your world”

Uhhh

I would savour her to the last fatfootah.

Dunkin Donuts

Something is cooking

Monday, April 17th, 2006

Yesterday I came home dying out of hunger, I tried to follow a moderate diet. So for my first day I had a mixed green salad for lunch followed with an apple after, like, 45 minutes (I couldn’t resist). So as soon as I reached home I started cooking ’something’ …. it’s a mix of lentil soup, 2-minutes noodles and some vegetables but I assure you, it’s was edible. I couldn’t eat it all so I saved some for the next day.

Today I actually managed to make salad BEFORE I go to work. Such an achievement really, I’m so proud of myself.

Shipping Food

What’s the best way to ship a midium size box of food goods to the UK? I’m looking for something kinda cost-effective and fast. Do DHL and Fedex allow this in the first place?

Do You Know that …

Indians have Rahash too, it looks pretty much like Iraqi rahash except it comes compressed in small bites. The taste is nothing to be compared with Iraqi Rahash though.

Breakfast at Sargam’s

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

OK, I click with a lot of indian things. The people, the culture, the music, the girls, the art and most importantly … the food. I blame our home manager for that, she familiarized us with the indian kitchen so much that we forgot about the thin line between it and the indian-influnced kuwaiti kitchen.

Sargam is one of my favorite resturants in the Mirqaab area. It’s not your average indian resturant, nooo. If Sargam’s owner knew shit about positioning, Sargam would be Indian food for the working indian people. You can’t find keema or any other dish that has any chicken or meat in it because Sargam is a vegetarian resturant, however, their dishes (that I have no idea what they’re called) are always delicious and they will leave your nose running in seconds.

That’s what you would get if you go to sargam for lunch/ dinner, a big steel dish with three tins filled with differnt kinds of food. Some salad tossed on the side and one piece of a dessert item, not to mention the free water. You also get some bread or rice. All of that only for 650 fils. One of the coolest things about sargam is once you’re done with a tin, they would refill it, for free. However, extra bread will cost you something like 50 fils.

It’s very very normal for somebody to just enter the resturant and sit on the same table you’re having your lunch on. Hell, I remember once the manager was doing his books on the same table. OK I got the pictures to prove it.

I just love their shut-the-fuck-up-and-eat attitude.

P.S: Sargam is not a place you want to have your breakfast at.

I might/ might not add to this later.

Can I Sue Them?

Subject: Participate in a book about food

Hello, my name is Jody. I am writing because I am working on my senior thesis project for college and was wondering if you would like to participate. I am creating a book about everyday eating habits. To do this, I will have people from around the world keep a food journal of everything they eat for four days. In addition, they will
photograph all of their food. I read in your profile that you are interested in photography so I thought you might like to do this.

If you have a digital camera or can borrow one and would like to participate, please email me as soon as you can and I will send you more information. My email is jodyfruit@yahoo.com.

Thank you!

Jody

Too bad I don’t have a digital camera but I’m sure some of you guys can help her. Show her photos of our machboos deyay, margoogah and all the delicious things we eat everyday.

Oh Fuck, That was good …

Mineral Water Logos

Wednesday, August 25th, 2004

So i was looking at the strange shape of the mountains on the ABC mineral water’s logo I mean just look at the mountain in the middle and how it overlaps the one on the left. It just looks wrong to me. That’s what i was thinking two/ three months ago when I was drinking that water at my friend’s house.

Yesterday, I saw the logo of Evian water and I was amazed not by the nicely drawn mountains but by the fact that ABC actually ripped evian’s logo off in a very bad way.

I went crazy buying other brands of mineral water just to see if there’s any other thing worth noticing.

Well, I noticed every body is using the mountains Iconography and I can’t blame them. It’s what mineral water is all about but when a local brand like “AL-Raudtain” is using the image of mountains in their logo you know things are absolutely gone wrong.

Now somebody correct me if I’m mistaken but WE DON’T HAVE ANY MOUNTAINS, do we? I know we have few hills and stuff but even the hills have nothing to do with alraudtain’s water. Thanks god Al Raudtain noticed this before i can find any bottle with that logo. Now they have a new design which is basically the same old logotype (only the word alraudtain in blue as usual on white background).

Ok, I really liked the fact that the mountains in the saudi hayat’s logo are brown. Somebody is being honest and down to earth Unlike the emarati masafi’s blue (snowy) mountains (does it snow in ras al khaima?)

By the way have you ever seen this?

I found it in a book.
