Cope2 Sneakers (Foot Locker + Adidas)

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Just when I thought they were slowing down, Foot Locker comes with a new collaboration line. Combining Adidas classic silhouettes with legendary graffiti artist, Cope2’s fresh art. I especially love how the artwork goes even UNDER the sneakers.
I will have to go check them out in person.

Adidas and Footlocker did collaborate with Cope2 before on the End to End line (which is still available at Foot Locker)

More pics and the press release after the jump (more…)

Jahra - Kuwait - Jahra (Again)

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

I slept over at my family’s house last night. My parents are going for haj together and I feel like I have to spend more time with them before they leave. I might even stay over with my brothers and sisters for the whole haj period till my parents come back.

One thing I was looking forward was seeing how long it will take me to get to work from jahra. I mean I know I’ve been living in jahra all my life but I just wanted to make sure and just compare it to the long times I spend on Fahaheel Expressway on my way to work from Salwa (where I live at the minute).

I left the house at 7:07 and I reached the office at 7:44. If I left my Salwa residence at 7:07 I would be stuck in the school traffic and barely be able to make it to work on time. (at 8:30) Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating but c’mon for crying out loud, it’s supposed to be an expressway, right?

I lost count of how many traffic lights are on my way from jahra but I can tell you, the are more than 5, 4 round abouts, endless turns here and there. Still, I get to work faster if I’m coming from Jahra.

Business Etiquette

Friday, January 13th, 2006

When you ask someone for his [business] email and you find “free_birds” in there, what does that mean exactly? He’s a pimp? If so, then this guy takes customer satisfaction to the next level.

It was a pleasure doing business with you, ta3al kil yom.

P.S: What do you think about the recent changes in fonts?

Few Hours After …

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

… so I didn’t go to the nubian thing but you know what I did? I met Al (friggin) Franken and I even have the pictures to prove it. YES, Al Franken is in the country. I talked with him a bit but it wasn’t about america’s foreign politics or any of that, I was explaining to him what tata botata means.

any body went to the nubian thing? worth it? should I go tomorrow?

Tata Loving and Bashing

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

I just found out that somebody wrote a post on me at the amazing “k u w a I t , A n o n y m o u s” site. Funny how many tata haters out there but my tata lovers will outnumber them any day of the fucking week.

OK guys you got a cart blanche from me, go and let it out. Abuse that post and show the world how much you hate/ love me.

I know some people are dying to do this, if they haven’t done it already.

Undies in the Street

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

Finding undies in the streets of jahra is quite common when I’m jogging in the almost deserted streets but to find undies in kuwait city near a construction site, makes me think twice.

I don’t know why whenever I see one of those I try to make the story behind it. Who came here to have a late night fling outdoors and had so much fun they forgot their undies? Who was innocently walking here when an excessively horny construction worker was around?

لبن سمك تمر هندي

Monday, December 12th, 2005

So I was invited to this party in the hilton last weekend, OK, so I wasn’t invited … I bought tickets … shoot me. The point is, I was at this indian party last weekend. They were celebrating some “Goan Night” and they had this amazing rock band from Goa.

They played some very dance-able rock songs and some surf rock anthems but what blew me away was pink floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” … no no fuck all that … the point of this post is, Why would an indian band playing for indian people in kuwait play Hava Nagila? They don’t realize it’s jewish song?

Listen to this very short recording of the song as played last thursday at the hilton.

Also, guess who was there?

My Jazzy Weekend

Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

I should tell you about what I did in my weekend. It’s not like I have weekends this interesting every week. I want to ramble about this but I will just stick to the point.

I went to a jazz concert organized by the american embassy on thanks giving as a sign of gratitude for the kuwaiti people and what they’ve done to help their american brothers overcome a disaster like hurricane katrina. The New Orleans All-Star Brass Band kicked major ass. They were loud and that’s how I liked it. Amazing what a bass drum and a snare can do to you. Their vocalist, the short guy, was signing pretty much like Louis Armstrong. He did a good job if imitating armstrong was one of his intentions.

What’s a jazz concert without Jazz Central, right? He was there as well as the main fusla and her partner in crime Amunki. I also heard some other blogger were there. Anybody?

Did you see the guy who was wearing ghetra and e’gaal and was obviously having so much fun?

OMG Guess who I ran into after the concert was done, our old friend Mona AL-Gena’e. I actually saw her before the concert but I didn’t want to risk losing the seats I was saving for my friends. I had a really interesting chat with her and I think my number of friends has incresed by one. ;) She really really wanted to hit me, I can tell. Oh don’t you deny it mona, I saw the way you were pointing your finger almost poking me with it while saying “… a person like you … “. I’m not gonna go in details, I know you guys are just dying to know more but sorry I will disappoint you this time. :)

On friday, I went to the book fair at mishref … blah!

Jocelyne Saab’s “Dunia”

Bravery? like how?

Here’s the plot from IMDB.com:

After studying literature at Cairo University, Dunia, 23 years old, wants to become a professional dancer. She attends audition for an oriental dance contest where she recites Arabian poetry without any body movement. She explain to the perplexed jury that a woman can’t move her body or evoke act of love when society ask women to hide their femininity. She is selected and meet Beshir, an intellectual and activist who will supervise her thesis on ecstasy in Sufi love poetry. Their attraction is mutual. This could be liberation for Dunia but the constraints on women in Egyptian society goes deeper than she suspects.

Well, I gotta admit It doesn’t seem like your average arabic film but that highlighted part in that clip is still puzzling me.

I can’t wait to see this film … and hey since when do we get arabic films screened at Montréal Film Festival?

Monday, August 9th, 2004

Quintin Tarantino to star in Larry Bishops’s Hell Ride (2006).

Not realy fond of tarantino’s acting skills although i loved his role in pulp fiction and his explanation of what maddona’s “like a virgin” realy means in the begining of “Reservoir Dogs”.
