More Publicity

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

A week late but hey late is better than never.

It’s kinda cool that both the writers of the bazar article and this article both assumed I studied in the states while in fact I never been there, well, not yet.

Thank you Shamael.

P.S: It would be nice to let someone know you will write about them. I mean, yes, the whole country was txting, calling and emailing me about it but I would have loved to know a little bit in advance.

Ikea Ad post gets linked

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

My “Swedish Hospitality” post got linked on twp blogs so far, Adrants.com and Marketerblog It also got some interesting individuals to write to me. It’s stuff like that that makes me wanna continue blogging.

I like the last two lines of Marketerblog’s post …
Ikea would do well to harness some of these collective insights before they design their next ad campaign. Or maybe they can just hire Tata Botata.

I got shit load of stuff to post, but I have no time really … sorry guys for being quite lately.

Art On My Ass

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

Isn’t this the same so-called artist who didn’t want to do an exhibition just because Kuwait National Council for Culture censored some of his artworks? Isn’t this the same so-called artist who been giving lectures I don’t know where? (kuwait university?) I can’t believe they’re actually doing this.

Did Fuad Al Hashim and company get bored of Abu Ghutadah and Abu Nabeel and left the brainless hand puppet (thallaab) alone?I wonder if he will actually sign any cartoons based on a submitted idea of a read with his name.

[Link]: Misc news on Mohammad Thallab from Al-Watan newspaper.

Note: For the non-arabic speaking crowd, this ad is a call for submissions of any idea for the daily cartoon strip “Yomiaat Abu Ghutadah wo Abu Nabeel”.

Arabic Forbes Magazine

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

They just released the arabic edition of Forbes magazine, just looking at this ad I got few notes on the cover.

They couldn’t find a font better than Tahoma to write the word “Al Arabiya”, it’s even STRECHED and it looks ugly and cheap. Couldn’t they get a normal typeface and use it instead of this windows default made-for-screen font.

Maha Al Ghnaaim is bracing their first cover, they can’t go wrong after that. Doesn’t she just rock?
God I love that woman.

Will write a more extensive review once I get my hands on a copy.

Update: Apparently, the arabic edition of forbes magazine been out for some time now.

I was sitting in the almost empty first row minding my own business, when this muhajabah chick who’s somehow related to hala February festival (PR Shit) came and sat next to me. Now I’m ok with sitting next to muhajabaat and everything but I’m not ok with a million fucker trying to get pictures of that muhajabah who sat next to me. I started involuntary shifting in my seat, doing some weird body gestures saying ‘FUCK OFF I DON’T WANT TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED, NOT NEXT TO THIS CHICK’. However they continued taking pictures (Stills & Video). Who knew Kuwait cinema club film weeks are that important to the hala wallah festival. Tell me If you see a weird guy wearing orange shirt with afro sitting next to a muhajbah. It should be in the papers today.

‘Tango’ is one of these movies where there’s a lot of mind-play, not in a thriller-like way but more like yousif shaheen’s stuff (if you know what I mean). The film is about this guy who is working on a film about tango, and a lot of the film is inspired by his own life.

It’s a musical, so don’t call the movie ‘dark’ or ‘weird’ just because ‘I didn’t get it’. (you hear me?) The dancing was perfect as well as the soundtrack.

Talking about soundtracks and tango, I recommend the following:

Tangos – Silvana Deluigi & Luis Di Matteo

Gotan Project - La Revancha del Tango

The Soundtrack of ‘Tango’ of course.

BTW, I still want to dance.
