Tata Botata T-Shirts: CLEARANCE!!!

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

I’m collecting the remaining stock of t-shirts from Mukan and Bassinet. I mostly got it all here with me.

Here’s the plan, while the new designs and the new brand for (grace yourself) the new t-shirts line is all ready to go to print. I’ve decided, I won’t go ahead and launch it till I’m done with remaining stock of the old t-shirts.

Basically, this is your last chance to get your hands on the t-shirts before they are gone. I can tell you some of the designs won’t even get a re-print with the new line.

I know Mukan and Bassinet don’t have the best of locations. I know a lot of innocent souls were lost on their journey to find those shops. Considering the fact my freelancing isn’t taking all of my time, I’ve decided to offer a home-delivery kind of service for my beloved customers. Yes, I will personally deliver your order to your doorstep.

This is how I hope it will work; You send me an email of your order, provided you have included your phone number and your address. I will call you to confirm the order and agree on a specific time to make the delivery. Simple as that.

The t-shirts were being sold at Mukan for 8 KD, and at Bassinet for 7.5 KD. I’m gonna sell the t-shirts for 7 KD. The total price of the minimum orders has to be more than 20 KD.

Tata Botata Mugs will be for 2 KD.

Availble T-Shirts:

Um Kalthoum T-shirt (beige, black/ blue/ red on white)
Legalize Booze (red)
FBK (white and blue)
Rock and Roll (red only)
Tata Botata Logo
I love Jahra
Very limited number of that psychedelic design

(Keep in mind, I only have SMALL and MEDIUM sizes)
(BLACK T-SHIRTS OF ANY DESIGN ARE SOLD OUT)

write to me at; bighair [at] tatabotata [dot] com

Oh yeah and …

My t-shirts just reached Japan. Haters eat your hearts out.

Update: Just added the picture.

More Publicity

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

A week late but hey late is better than never.

It’s kinda cool that both the writers of the bazar article and this article both assumed I studied in the states while in fact I never been there, well, not yet.

Thank you Shamael.

P.S: It would be nice to let someone know you will write about them. I mean, yes, the whole country was txting, calling and emailing me about it but I would have loved to know a little bit in advance.

T-Shirts Fame

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

Few months ago I got an email from someone called …, telling me that he’s starting a men’s magazine targeting middle-easterns. He told me that the magazine will be published in some of the hot spots of the region (dubai, beirut, cairo, …) and that he wanted to do a feature on my t-shirts.

I politely refused, mainly because It’s hard for people in kuwait to find my t-shirts (even through two outlets) yet alone people out of kuwait.

I just didn’t want to tease people with stuff they can’t easily get. I told him that I’m working on a solution and at the same time I planning to take this thing to the next level by importing high-quality t-shirts and starting my own screen printing studio.

I sent him the email but it bounced back, I tried again after few days … the same. I just gave up and he didn’t contact me again, so I thought he wasn’t really serious.

Yesterday, while trying to finish some project at the agency, I get this missed call from Jordan. It was the same guy, He told me he didn’t get a reply and I explained to him the whole thing and again I refused to do a feature on the t-shirts for the reasons I’ve already mentioned and I added another one that been bothering me for a while now. Although I posted the t-shirts on the blog, I think publishing them in a magazine (a printed, more accessible matter) might lead to a chance of my ideas getting copied and abused.

Then he suggested something. He was like “I really like that afro icon, why don’t we do, like, a profile on you”. That seemed like a good idea to me, I mean the t-shirts won’t be the main focus but they will be mentioned on the side. I mean a little bit of recognition won’t hurt anybody if we ignored the inflation of my ever-so-growing ego. Hmmm, That would look sweet on my resumé.

Now with my daily duties in this job and the demanding nature of the advertising business I hardly get any personal time. So the t-shirts project is on some kind of hold till further notice. I don’t think I will be able to follow up with anything anytime soon. I mean don’t get me wrong, I already have finished designing enough concepts for more seasons to come but I promised my self I WILL NOT print anything, anymore, unless it’s on a better quality t-shirts that comes in various sizes, different models and cuts.

I’m not sure really whether to do this free publicity thing or not, it’s like opening a can of worms. Ahmad, the editor of bazar, offered that they do something on me … maybe even do some kind of collaborative project of some sort. I’m all for it but I just keep on post-boning things forever, I don’t know what I’m waiting for really. Hell, I didn’t even write back to Villa Moda when they left me that comment.

Some people saw the big procrastinator in me and offered to totally take over the project and give me ,like, royalties and stuff like that and I absolutely refused. I just don’t like to give others the control end of things, especially with things I love so passionately like this project.

What would you do?

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Bassinet is opening today in its new location in Salmyia , at Tala Complex. It should be really interesting. A lot of bloggers are going to be there, hell, the owner of the shop is a blogger herself. So I guess you can call this a blogger-stalkers dream event. :p

On a political note, I heard there will be a gathering in front the parliament tonight at 8 PM.

The exhibition will be near the center’s building in Mishref, for exact directions and map click here.

Note: The exhibition will open today at 5 PM, will stay open for three days after that. On the last day (thursday) there will be a draw on the copouns.

Update: I’m not gonna make it today, the t-shirts are not done yet but hopefully tomorrow morning I will get everything and arrange it on my table myself. :)

Liberal Comedian Sues Blogger

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

This is happenning in america, from a liberal comedian, over a fucking t-shirt. I wonder how long it will take before something like this happens to me.

BTW Yesterday I was invited to a birthday party and one of the guests brought one of my t-shirts as a gift. The smile on my face was THIS BIG.

P.S: Shoosh, That was the best time I had in a long long while. Love you.

Semi-Ramblings

Sunday, September 4th, 2005

OK, I need to write something here.
Lots of things happened recently. I feel like rambling, here we go again.

First of all, thanks everybody for the beautiful suggestions for the advertising-related blog Q and I about to start. We picked a name that was inspired by one of the suggestions. We don’t really have a winner here. The final name, the inspirational suggestion shall remain a secret till further notice. Thanks everybody. Also, It would be extremely nice if some people could remove the sticks up their asses, This will save them and us the pain we are going thru everyday.

***

Recently, God or whoever is in charge here is playing a game with me and it’s really freaking me out . Whenever I check the time, it always has to be something like 4:44, 3:33, 5:55, or even worse 11:11. This happens to me almost ALL the time and I can do nothing but wonder, WTF?

***

I made a deal with Mukan Café to sell my t-shirts there. You totally need to pass by that spot at some point in your life. Not only for my t-shirts but for the amazing, cozy and cool atmosphere of the place and the nice people who frequent the place.
Here are the directions: ( and no, I’m not gonna draw a map for obvious reasons :p )

You are on the fourth ring road, salmiya behind you. You’re just passing over the bridge over fahaheel highway. Stay on the right lane until you see a “sub road”, it’s parallel to the fourth ring road. You drive till you reach the theatre where this big poster of “kuwaiti fee al faloojah” will be on your right side. You take a right after the theatre. you go ’seedah’ for a lil bit then take the first right, then a left. Drive for, like, 100 meters and it shall be on your right side. You can see the bamboo fence or if you come at night you will see the red neon sign (how classic) “Mukan”.

Don’t be afraid when you step in a small room suspecting you trespassed somebody’s house. Say hi, order your drink from john and somebody will guide you. It’s fun, unless you’re an antisocial.

***

Talking about social stuff, I’m sorry my fellow bloggers for not commenting or for my lack of chatting with you my msn buddies, or yahoo buddies for that matter. I’ve been juggling lots of random small projects and few big ones recently and the last thing I wanted to give a fuck about was blogging. I hope you understand. Also, I apologize for each an every person who ‘tagged’ me, I’m sorry.

***

Did I mention I’m really happy going back to my freelancer’s lifestyle?

***

Did I mention I might move to dubai? more on that later.

***

Shit, fuck that … I’m not gonna continue this … I have a meeting in two hours, better get my shit ready. See guys later.

Dear readers, Tfeh

Saturday, June 11th, 2005

Ladies and gents, I want to intorduce you to the ‘Tfeh’ brand. The first time I saw this brand was on my first day at work, as a car bumper sticker. It made me really think, I thought it’s hilarious.

My creative director been selling all kinds of things with the ‘tfeh’ on them back in lebaanon. T-shirts, mugs, lighters, beach towels and that kind of stuff.

Just recently he printed a limited edition patch of 100 of the ‘Tfeh’ t-shirts. They are availble in black and navy blue.

They are for 5 KDs.

I will be taking your orders.
Hurry up, they will get sold out like hot cakes.

P.S: I didn’t design the t-shirts, I’m just getting the word out.

Teeety Teeety

Sunday, January 16th, 2005

My regular beloved readers are familiar with my love for good t-shirts, to make them and to wear them. I’m working on my first line of t-shirts and I need a focus group to tell me what works and what doesn’t.

If you feel like you got what it takes (love for beautiful things and common sense). And want to be in the focus group then tell me so (in the comments).

Thanks in Advance

P.S: I will be picky, don’t take it personally.

Johnny Cupcakes

Little Something for those who developed a cupcake fetish lately.

Calling all Fashion Designers

Monday, October 4th, 2004

Last Friday I went to “al-blockat” To buy some fabrics, No, It wasn’t for a dishdash or a suit (suit, yeah right). It was for a T-shirt. You see I have this Idea for a project which evolve around T-shirts.
With the help of the Princess of Shoes and Sandals (In Arabic it sounds like an insult.) I located few shops which sell this kind of fabrics. It was somehow costly but I think it’s worth it and some shops were closed (It was a Friday after all).

After that I went to My Auntie who happen to be a very good in tailoring. I told her I want this this and this but she said “I can’t do it, I might fuck it up”. So I went to the nearest tailor who said the same And another said the same and the same and the same. The bottom line, Nobody in Jahra can do it.

The Irony was when one of them said “go to al-blockat, they do this stuff” I just smiled, thanked him and left. Ever since I’m having this crazy idea of doing it myself, Since I’m a sucker for anything DIY.

I went googling for a T-shirt Pattern but no luck. I thought I might copy the design of my favorite t-shirt and hope it would work. But still I didn’t do anything yet.

I will be waiting for your suggestions.
Thanks in Advance.
